When I try to go to google, I get this:

The requested URL could not be retrieved

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.google.com/webhp?

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.google.com
The dnsserver returned:

Timeout
This means that:

The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct.

This is a DNS resolving issue on Frontier's side, I repeat this is not a google problem, this is a frontier problem. I see 2 solutions, or actually work arounds (they dont fix the problem, but they work) Using google's ip adress will not work, as every search it conducts will still go through google.com.

1.Use google.co.uk untill Frontier fixes their issues, or

2.Use google's public DNS

http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html#reverting, they have complete instructions on how to set this up, and how to switch it back once Frontier fixes it.

Another in WV here who cannot access Google. ISP is Frontier (former Verizon customer). Windows 7 on 2 desktops & 1 laptop all affected, both in IE9 and Chrome. All other sites are fine. Frontier's 24/7 tech support is not answering . . .

EDITING: as I hit submit, Frontier tech support came onto the phone line. I asked them "why did you kill Google?" They report that this is a Google issue and that they are tracking calls and reporting to Google in an effort to help identify the problem. Not sure I'm definite on who will end up owning the issue, but passing along that Frontier knows and further that they say Google knows.

Could it be a regional thing? I'm also in West Virginia and that exact thing is happening to me. Any site related to google will not come up. I'm running my anti virus now to check if there is a problem but nothing so far and if its more than just me today it makes me wonder if something is wrong with maybe our shared internet provider? Where do you live in West Virginia MAX6SPEE? and the person asking this question, do you possibly live in west virginia?

Change your DNS Servers. Seems to be a major problem with some ISPs. I guess some DNS servers are screwed up. Just use googles free DNS servers or Open DNS.

Googles are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 not sure what open DNS servers are but im sure you can find them

I've been having the same problem today. I think, it's a trick related with that phishing-warning-site.com

An agent from my Intenet provider tried to find it out for about one hour, but she couldn't.

The same thing is happening to me. I can get all sites except google search. I can get google mail though. What is strange is I can get google search on my server but not on any workstations. Also my spouse at home can not get Google search on her Mac.

either your not connected to the internet , or something wrong with your network configuration. if you some knowleged of networking. try to used the IP command in ur command prompt this typeIPCONFIG/ALL and seet to it that all the related IP configuration including your default gateway and DNS is registered. or else try to contact the person in charged with your internet

Try this

Type in as you see it

http://www.google.com.au/

That's Google in Australia

If you still have problems

Do a Disk Clean and and Defrag.

Then clean your cache and try again.
