How is it Google seems to know where I am? This is a brand new computer, I've only had it three days, I haven't signed into or created a Google account and I haven't shared my location with Google maps yet when I just searched "time" above all of the results in text was the time followed by "Time in Oldbury, UK" which is my exact town... How is it Google knows where I am?

Most IP addresses can be used to get a rough fix on your location. Don't worry... narrowing it down to your city is about the closest its able to pinpoint you, and even getting that exact is fairly lucky.

They know your general location because of your ip address...it allows them to tell the location of your internet provider.

i am not an it geek, but they must be able to track where the computer is from the broadband connection location and track the location from there
