It can take a week or two for a new site to become propagated in search engines. Create content for the site relevant to a particular audience. Try and get other people to link back to your site.

In reality a search for the site name has about the least practical value, other than confirming that it is indexed, for which the definitive test search is: site:yourdomain.com

(I see moonfruit.com is a highly ranked free site host that would be hard to compete with)

Each search engines has a submission form for an indexing request, although they will automatically discover your site if there are others linking to it, which you will be needed to have any ranking.

Some SEO consultants use a search for the site name or some obscure term like your own name as evidence of their accomplishments, unfortunately those searches have little practical value, you need to show up for searches for the subject matter of your site, perhaps you would have a page with pineapple mentioned in the meta title, header body text and image file names to help get that page to rank for pineapple. People commonly use tools like the free Google Keyword Tool to identify real world search phrases that are likely to match their site, incorporating the keyword phrases in the list into their content.

You can sign it up for google at google.com/addurl/ if I remember correctly, although I have never done it. Then there are a lot more search engines you could sign up for. I just waited until my website was discovered :D

A few days ago I registered a domain and I already saw the googlebot crawling on my website, although the website cannot be found yet on google. Looks like it just takes some time..

Good luck!
