My friend really wants me to get a Gmail account, but I like my Yahoo account. I don't see the point in opening a new account.

*gasp!!!* What's so great about Gmail? Dude, Gmail rules!! It kicks all these other email services as. Okay here's what I think:

Gmail:

- No ads!! Yahoo and Hotmail have all these crappy ads all over the place.

- Like other people said, a lot of space!! You don't have to delete any of your emails. Like I mean, a WHOLE lot of space!!

- Its clean cut, and every things well organized.

- Archiving and labels are great features. Saving a message but not having to label it or see it on the inbox is great.

- Pop3 service

- Rarely get spam. And when I say rarely, I mean it!

- The chat service. Yahoo just recently added that. Obviously they copied it from Gmail cause they suck. :)

- Calendars, documents, pics....all in the same application. Got to love that!

- If someone says you can only join if you're invited, they're wrong. All you have to do is go to their website and click "Sign up for Gmail" Geez, you guys.

C'mon, just give Gmail a try. You'll love it!! And if you don't then I don't know.

in gmail u can't chat with any one else and they may want to chat with u

also u can set it just like many others so that no one other then ur contacts can contact u

it does not cost $

or u can tell ur friend good things about ur yahoo account and tell her u just don't want to get it

oh and u can also see ur chats again and u won't run out of room

hope it helped

Gmail is awesome because of the way it handles your mails. It is based on a very different concept from other mails - once you start mailing someone and gets replies, all the subsequent mails are stored as a single 'conversation'.

There are tons of other features also, like a clean interface, loads of storage and better spam resistance.

Try it out and see if you like it!

The only thing that gmail has and yahoo mail does not is the multi-language version. for example, i have my gmail account in Serbian Cyrillic (I prefer that although I speak English).

Well I prefers Gmail more than Yahoo Mail beacuse it loads fast as compare to Yahoo Mail, one more thing is that it has no advertisements which helps to load mails fasts and also Gmail's mail attachment size is 20Mb as yahoo have only 10MB, So you can send large files, and one more thing is that you can use POP3 access for configuring it for any Email client, It's totally free

Just give it a try www.gmail.com

Gmail offers you a ton of space - almost 3 gig. They have a unique way of handling and organizing that mail. It takes a little getting used to, but it does have advantages. You can access it via thunderbird et al, but I'm not sure that's an advantage. I have it. I use it for really big files, but it's not my primary focus on email.

A million things. Really.

Chat in the software without downloading anything.

Access to online word processor and spreadsheet.

Great online photo storage.

a TON OF STUFF

It is way better. Period. OH, and free pop 3 access. Yahoo doesn't even offer that. No footers on email.

Well, i like the way you can archive mail to get it out of your inbox, so you can devote your inbox to new mail, or mail that needs to be acted on.

And the idea of adding labels to emails, and the way you can filter emails automatically to add labels or stars, or move into different boxes.

Oh, and the way you can use keyboard shortcuts. And the massive capacity. And just the general interface is quick and clean.

But i'm a complete organisation freak and send a lot of emails. So perhaps you shouldn't bother.

You don't have to get Gmail if you don't want to. The advantages are though:

Heaps more space then any other e-mail to store your stuff.

You can use MSN messanger with it or chat to other friends with GMail.

You can only join if you're invited.

Gmail has chat. I like it because it is the only chat not blocked at my school.

I wondered the same thing. I hear it has more space and its easier to look stuff up but I too dont see what the big deal is. People make it seem all sophisticated. I dont know why though.

It's not great. Just stay on Yahoo if that's what you want.
