You can take the advice of one or all of the above answers but, the fact, is that to prevent Google logging the history of any sites you visit you must go into the Registry and disable Google. You should only do this if, you are comfortable working in the Registry.You also need to disable User Tracking.
To make it clear itself automatically, tick the box next to "always clear my private data when I close Firefox". If you do this, it will save you doing it manually

Yes sky is correct in the answer go to tools,internet options,clear history.But i believe the history is not wiped out 100% and could still be recovered from hd disc which has to be written over 32 plus before it is clean completely

Open Google then click on the search bar until your old search words pop up. Then while one the first one press the delete key do this until all enteries are cleared.

to delete history go to - tools - internet options - clear history
for what u have typed on google go - tools - internet option - content - autocomplete - clear forum

Go onto "tools" at the top of your browser, click "clear private data" and select what you want deleted.

if you're using windows vista, go to Startbar>Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet Properties and under where it says "Browsing History" on the General tab, click delete

clearing your google history is quite simple
BUT you also need to clear out your web browser history, your cookies and your temporary internet files to totally clean it up
