Question:
Google Chrome vs Mozilla Firefox?
2009-06-04 09:09:39 UTC
What can I do with my huge amount of add-ons, extensions and plugins from MF?
Are my saved and synchronized bookmarks (Foxmarks) saved with GC?
I heard GC is so much better than MF (IE I do not even wanna talk about).

Pls leave specific opinions with details (besides the speed),
thank you!

There are some add-ons (you can google chrome add ons) but not much. This is a relatively new browser.

You can import viewing history, bookmarks, and passwords. You would click the wrench pulldown and then import bookmarks and settings.

Im no expert but: What is the best browser? It depends on what you want it to be, no Chrome wont probably have all those 1 million addons you can get with Firefox. Do you need them?

Out of Firefox, Chrome, Safari, IE

Safari is the fastest and ONLY browser that passes the Acid3 Test

If you need Addons stay with Firefox,

If you want speed and reliability, go with Safari or Chrome and recreate your bookmarks.

Acid3 Results

Firefox: 71/100

Chrome: 79/100

Safari: 100/100

IE : why bother but.. 20/100

easily Firefox lots of the time. Apple stop updating Safari. If it have been as much as date for residing house windows, i might use that plenty. I basically use Chrome once I get a screwed up web site it quite is intentionally written to not paintings with Firefox.

IE8 is fine.

Stick with MF if it's what you're used to. GC uses slightly less memory, but at the end of the day, a browser is a browser. If you have addons you use with MF that you really like, why bother changing?

Pros:

-Speed(Yeah I know you know that)

-Easy navigation

-History of visited websites shows at start up of Chrome

-Full Screen Mode(press f11 and the page is shown in full screen)

-Easy tab creation

-Does not take up computer resources, so your computer won't run slower when your online

-Futuristic appearance

Cons

-For safety purposes, you should change your settings to ask you before downloading

-Some features of certain websites might not work (though only on websites most people probably haven't heard about, not anything common)

So yeah, I'd change to Chrome, unless you can't break away from your firefox add-ons

GC is slightly faster and simpler interface, but MF is best with add-ons, themes and customisation... IE is shockingly unstable, prone to crashing with lots of tabs and apps, but is GC pretty firm and MF close behind. MF is safest, as you can set security much easier and more user-friendly security systems than IE8

I use both but the problem I run into is that many sites have load problems with Chrome. I will use Chrome as much as possible because it is very basic and not full of garbage that slows things down. It's frustrating when I get to a spot that it can't handle though.

Chrome is quite different from Other Browsers.

When you Open a New TAB

for each and Every tab an new process in Initiated

This is not found in any browsers.

This is an Advantage in one way as you can secure the tab on Crash (Even u can restore in another browsers)

The Disadvantage of it is , Considering the memory usage of Each process. God Damn cant Afford.

I know it's tricky when you've built up so much stuff with Firefox.

Of course, you CAN have them both on your machine at the same time. That's what I do.

But I find I am using Chrome 99% of the time. It's just more...what's the word...elegant.

although mozilla has plug ins and chrome does not...

i personally dont use plug ins...

chrome is faster than safari and IE FOR SURE!!!!

it loads as fast as firefox...

i use chrome more now...

but if u use firefox then keep using it
