Question:
Why do my PC Google searches show up on my phone & how to stop it?

I use Google Calendar and Gmail contacts, both synced to our Android cell phones, so I know Google is communicating between my PC, those services, and the phones. But I've now noticed that all the Google searches I do on my PC (using Firefox while logged in to my gmail account), appear in the search history on a Google app on my phone, and presumably my wife's phone (uses same account, but I haven't checked.

I would like to stop this, but I can't see where this is enabled. How did this get set up? And how can I shut this off? Is this done on the phone, with my Google account, on my PC, or some combination of the above. This seems like a pretty intrusive thing for Google to do without telling me or asking if I want it done. Almost a privacy violation, given that more than one phone will get this info, and because others might use my phone. I don't particularly have anything to hide, but I might be shopping for Christmas or birthday presents, etc.
