I just got an email from gmail saying I had succesfully created a "google group". I'd never heard of google groups and did not make one! I can't contact google to complain (at least by email), and I'm worried someone's gotten into my account. Anyone know what happened?

1) Someone must have used your Google ID for creating the group.

Change your password immediately, and report to Google Support about this incident.

And, also notify your contacts to not send any sensitive information to that account.

You can also frequently check your Account activity (at the bottom in Gmail) to see if anyone from any unrecognizable IP address is accessing your account.

2) Another possible cause might be that the e-mail would have been just a spam message, or it must have been trying to phish you.

Do not give your password or id in any such pages, which might have been setup for phishing your accounts. And, please make sure that you change your password now, to prevent any further problems, if you had logged in to your account from a link in the e-mail.

They probably just signed up for it with your email but you should probably change your password just to be safe.
