I have always used google as my search engine, and for some random reason yahoo has become my default search engine, and no matter how many times I change it or delete it, it keeps coming back.

And yes, I realize how ironic it is that I'm asking how to get rid of the yahoo search engines on yahoo answers. The reality is, I'm used to google. So I like it more.

You'll have to go into your browsers settings.

You should mention what you use to help us answer this.

For Chrome click the "wrench" then "options" then where it says "search" choose Google.

For others I don't know

The answer to this question could be a bit more broad. The user that mentioned the google link and home page change was absolutely correct also.

My wonder is when you say yahoo search engine I can't help but wonder if you have yahoo applications installed?? If so, when you install a yahoo app it will attempt to change your home page every time. Ensure you are selecting CUSTOM install so you get the option to UNCHECK and changes you do NOT want made to your computer. With a little luck, it will even listen.

Also pay attention if any Toolbars are installed, etc. Many free programs come at a cost. That cost is paid by advertisers. They reach you by way of free apps. The free apps therefore usually include overhead you were not expecting and all of which can also change your toolbar.

There are many other ways and reasons your Home page or search page or default web site that is downloaded / viewed when you open your browser gets changed but I am hoping for your sake you have already found your answer in the last posts or this one. Windows is a pain sometimes. Did I just say "some" times.. Oops

Assuming that you are refering to a default search provider in internet explorer and you are using a windows machine, you can do the following:

1. manage your add-ons by clicking on "tools" - "manage add-ons"

2. in the section labled "add-on types" click on "search providers"

3. in the list of search providers, right click on "google" and select "set as default"

4. once selected, you can also select "prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default..."
