I added Gmail into Outlook via IMAP and a Gmail folder appears and under that folder is an "All Mail" folder. To me, the “All Mail” folder in Outlook can get quite irritating when you start seeing duplicates emails in your “Inbox” and “All Mail” folder and even more irritating when your search produces two emails of exact same thing from the 2 folders. It took me about an hour to find this answer, so I thought I would post it here.

ANSWER:
1. Go to your Gmail account.
2. Go to Settings and click on 'Labs'.
3. Scroll down until you find 'Advance IMAP Controls'
4. Select Enable.
5. Now go to the 'Labels' tab
6. Uncheck the box for 'Show in IMAP
7. Once you have done this, close Outlook and restart it. Your 'All Mail' folder will be gone now.

Hope that helps.....

Fantastic answer thanks. Furthermore, if you now compact your email folder in Outlook it will reduce considerably in size.

In Outlook2007: Tools>Account Settings>Data Files>Settings...>Compact Now.

742,777KB down to 372,265KB in my case.

on an identical time as i've got not got the problem as i do no longer use Outlook 2003 with IMAP, there must be some variety of putting the place you may map your own Inbox to the IMAP Inbox, and map the despatched products to the IMAP despatched products mailbox. I had this same surprising difficulty mapping to a diverse IMAP server and making use of Apple Mail. whilst i could compose a message in Apple Mail, it could write to it is community despatched products folder, and not the IMAP despatched products. there replaced right into a putting to on my community despatched products to "Use this at despatched products Mailbox".
