Google's homepage is plain, so it loads quicker. No extra junk.

iGoogle is a customized Google homepage you can set up, which is freaking awesome (and not plain).

Google's pagerank system is what made it famous in the first place. It has a very good chance of finding what you're really looking for.

Google is nothing special, it's just the more trendy brand name for young folks who were too young to realize that Yahoo! was the original it website from the beginning of public internet age. What's funny is that Yahoo! was simple just like Google was but today Yahoo! is trying to be more simple and Google is trying to be everything now, the roles have reversed.

Sometimes minimalist is elegant. It's a design aesthetic.

Google and Yahoo! offer similar services but as far as searches what really happened was Firefox teamed up with Google and made them their default internet search provider. So, people tend to like what they're familiar with. If Yahoo! is all you know, well that's what you're going to like. They both have the good, and the bad. Personally I like Yahoo! Answers.

I prefer yahoo over google. But when it comes to online videos i prefer google. Google has more of a variety of online videos and they seem to be more recent than the online videos that yahoo has. Google and Yahoo search has the same search tools, in my opinion. Yahoo does seem more reliable than google, because yahoo has more links and more information in color text on there pace. Google just have a motto and a tool bar.
