Why Avg web protection changes Google chrome and cannot see the recently visited web sites?

Hi. I use Google Chrome and I clicked yes to Avg web protection. Chrome has set the default page to AVG secure search home page. But now I cannot open a new tab and see little rectangles with recently visited web sites. Whenever I click new tab it goes to AVG secure search home page and I cannot change it. What can I do to change this option and return to initial settings of Chrome?

may be should change the antivirus you are using. Switch to Avast and get better result
