Ok, I recently got rid of a virus on my computer but ever since it was wiped, the short cut to Google Chrome on my desktop doesn't work. I click it nd it looks like it will load but then it just fades out. I have no idea what's going on! I am running on windows seven btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I have to use Internet Explorer and it's so slow and old...

I'd suggest uninstalling it and re-installing it.

To do that:

1. click the start menu, then control panel.

2. Find "programs and features" or just "Uninstall a program" (depending on how you have control panel set out) and click it.

3. A list of programs should appear, it might take a few seconds for all the programs to load, depending on your computer speed. Find Google Chrome, click on it to select it, then on the bar just above the list click "uninstall".

4. Then once you've gone through the uninstallation process. Download and install Google Chrome again - https://www.google.com/chrome.

After this it should work, if it doesn't then there is probably something wrong in your settings or another program is conflicting with it, if you post a question on or search the Google Chrome forums ( http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/chrome ) i'm sure you'll find a solution.

Hope I helped :) good luck!

I love it, 9.5/10 at the second. Rule One: it is quick. Due to the fact it's from Google, i am surely certain it can be cozy. The motive I docked it .5 elements is since, good, it's a beta unlock. Giving 10/10 on a first beta? Come on. I've 2 favorite elements. I detect that, if a system is making, say, 100k utilization, you can use the venture supervisor (web page>Developer>assignment manager) and close that tab, lowering your utilization. But one I truly and honestly love, which you could create 'utility shortcuts' (page>Create Appl...) and they permit you to launch functions out of your computer. For example, say i use Gmail. I can create a shortcut to Gmail from my desktop, and double-click it to launch it. It really works with a couple of different apps, too. Another thing i admire in all browsers is simplicity. Like the Google homepage, which is discreet, the UI is not the prettiest thing on the earth, but it's simple and efficient. It takes a while to get to know your means round it, but hiya, it took time to understand your method around IE7, Safari 3.1, Firefox 3, and definitely Opera. What's different? WebKit is a stable, rapid rendering engine. As it can be the primary day, every person does not have an app for Chrome. Once it gets, say, 10% market share (Google would accomplish this by releasing specified 'have to have' features for Chrome, after which probably three-6 months later for FF/IE customers), i'm certain extra men and women will write apps for Chrome. At the finish, market share will be 1% internet Explorer, 40% Firefox, 40% Chrome, 19% Safari - appropriately. Overall, I propose you down load Chrome instantly. You will not regret it.

It sounds as if your Chrome has become corrupted.

Try running these scans, then reinstall Chrome. I use Firefox, and know nothing about Chrome, but I recommend you don't attempt to uninstall your current Chrome in case you lose some Chrome settings you'd like to keep. I've included a Chrome download link at the bottom.

Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter. You will now see some drivers being loaded. There will be a pause at some point. This usually lasts for no more than 30 seconds.

If that's successful, download and run TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky Lab. It's tiny, and takes just a minute to run. It hunts down and kills a specific family of rootkits:

Regardless of the results, download the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it, get updates and run a full scan (still in Safe Mode). This is a direct download link. Copy and paste it into your browser’s address bar, and press Enter.

After this, try rebooting normally. If that's successful, I recommend you run another full scan with MBAM. It will detect malware that wasn't running in Safe Mode.

You should now delete TDSSKiller.exe, as updated versions are often made available. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware can be easily uninstalled, should you wish to do so, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.

Chrome download link:

Flash Player download links. Select the one that applies to you (Non-IE 32-bit or 64-bit):

Hope this helps.

I don't know if you are familiar with maneuvering around in Windows Explorer. Google does not put chrome.exe in the usual Program Files folder so you have to maneuver to:

C:\Users\ZZZZZZZ\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application

(where ZZZZZ is your user's name) and find chrome.exe . You can right click on chrome.exe. Then you can resize the Windows explorer so you can see part of the desktop and slide the shortcut over to there.

The easier way would be to just go to chrome.google.com and download and reinstall Chrome!
